We will repeat it as much as necessary: the adoption of new tools is essential to allow the switch to a web of tomorrow happier, more emancipatory and more respectful of people, young and old.
It is this mission that we have been working on every day at Qwant since our creation, without being the only ones to do so: other initiatives, whether they come from private, public or associative actors, also aim to “stitch” the canvas.
This is why we are very pleased to reiterate today our support for the approach taken by Adrien Taquet (Secretary of State for Child Protection) and Cédric O (Secretary of State for Digital Affairs) around the government platform jeprotegemonenfant.gouv.fr.
Launched on February 9, this platform has become essential because of the very mission it has set itself: to better equip parents to protect their minor children against shocking pornographic content.
Thus, on jeprotegemonenfant.gouv.fr, parents will be able to count on the support of many tips and tools to effectively take control of their children’s activities.
For the time being, parents remain largely ill-equipped in the face of the rapid evolution of the digital practices of the youngest and the multiple risks they run on the web: 57% of parents, more than half of them, say they do not currently use a parental control tool.
In this context, offering parents the right tools to protect and monitor their children’s behavior is an essential step towards a better regulated web of tomorrow. It is still necessary that the existence of such tools be brought to their attention by awareness-raising efforts on the part of actors who feel concerned by the construction of a better web: this is the meaning of the renewal of our support for the launch of the platform.
This is why Qwant reaffirms its support for this approach for a happier and more emancipatory use of the web.
