Since its creation, Qwant has had several strategic partnerships essential to its growth and the deployment of the search engine. Technological sovereignty cannot be decreed. It is financed and built step by step.
Since March 2020, Qwant & Huawei have been partners for a project with unique potential. Huawei has teamed up with Qwant to offer our search engine on the HUAWEI P40 range in France Germany and Italy. At the time, it was an unprecedented consumer partnership between Huawei, the world technology leader, and Qwant, the European search engine that respects the privacy of its users. Together, we offered their users the best of mobile technology combined with online information search technology that respects personal data. Since then, Qwant has been increasingly installed as the default search engine in Huawei phones. This partnership is now taking a new step forward.
The proposal made to Qwant’s shareholders at the general meeting on May 18 is not a new partnership. This is a continuation of our existing partnership. A very structuring partnership for Qwant and started in March 2020. This is a bond investment, and it is not an entry into the capital of Qwant. It is a vehicle for financing our expansion.
Concretely, with its bond investment, Huawei is helping Qwant to develop and deploy on a European scale for all the brand’s new smartphones that will be put on the market in France, Germany and Italy.
