Last May, we deployed a new service: Qwant Causes. By activating the "Causes" option, users transform their research into donations to the associations they have chosen. All the additional income generated by this mode is returned to the associations. When launching this new mode of civic engagement, Qwant Causes chose to promote women's rights with the NGO Care.
The NGO Care was selected as the default beneficiary and was highlighted between mid-May and June 2019. During this period, it received 24781.45 euros thanks to the 84017 QOZ generated by users (including 10584 QOZ at Care International). This apolitical and non-denominational NGO is one of the largest humanitarian aid networks in the world. The CARE network is present in 90 countries and has as its mission the fight against extreme poverty. The first report of all additional revenues generated on Qwant Causes through Internet users' searches shows 94549 QOZ generated. All these QOZ correspond to 27,887.94 euros paid donated.
"This significant amount will make it possible to finance real projects, and we hope to come back soon with many examples of concrete achievements made possible by donations from Qwant Causes users" Marie Juyaux, Deputy CEO of Qwant at the initiative of the Qwant Causes project.
The results of Qwant Causes over this first period are very promising. They confirm the need for citizens to engage via the Internet in supporting solidarity and sustainable development actors. Qwant thanks all the users of Causes who have chosen to give power to their research, in the service of the causes supported by Care and its international network but also to all the associations that have been selected by them.
